Naby Keita linked with Azerbaijan switch as Sabah FK eye Ferencvaros midfielder

Guinean midfielder Naby Keita is being linked with a move from Ferencvaros to Azerbaijan Premier League club Sabah FK. The possible transfer would see the 31-year-old central midfielder leave the Hungarian champions for a club competing in the Premyer Liqa.

Keita joined Ferencvaros on a free transfer from Werder Bremen in January 2026, having previously spent time at the Hungarian club on loan. He helped Ferencvaros win the Hungarian Cup during the 2025-26 season.

The former Liverpool player has made four appearances in Europa League qualifying this season, providing one assist. He has also featured once in the Nemzeti Bajnoksag, although he has not started a league match.

Keita’s current market value is listed at €1.5m. No transfer fee or agreement has been reported in connection with the potential move to Sabah.

Keita rose to prominence during his time at Red Bull Salzburg and RB Leipzig before joining Liverpool in 2018 in a deal worth €60m. He won the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup during his five years at Anfield, but left for Werder Bremen as a free agent in 2023.

The Sabah link comes while Keita remains registered as a Ferencvaros player, with the proposed move still at the rumour stage.
