Nabil Kouki leaves role as Al-Masry head coach, Emad Al-Nahhas emerges as leading successor
Egyptian side Al-Masry Club has confirmed the departure of Tunisian coach Nabil Kouki, bringing an end to his tenure as technical director of the Port Said-based team.
The announcement, made on Tuesday, marks a significant shift as the club prepares to usher in a new chapter in its football project.
In a brief but respectful statement, the club’s board of directors, led by chairman Kamel Abu Ali, acknowledged Kouki’s decision to step down and expressed appreciation for his contributions during his time at the helm.
The statement highlighted the efforts of Kouki and his technical staff, noting their commitment and impact on the first team throughout their stay.
“The board of directors of the Egyptian club, headed by Kamel Abu Ali, extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to Captain Nabil Al-Kouki and his staff for their great efforts during the past period in which they led the first team, wishing them continued success in their future careers.”
Kouki’s departure comes at a crucial juncture for Al-Masry, a club with ambitions of remaining competitive at the highest level of Egyptian football.
His tenure, though now concluded, was marked by a period of transition and attempts to stabilize the team’s performances.
Attention is now turning to his potential successor, with reports indicating that Emad Al-Nahhas has emerged as the frontrunner for the role.
The former technical director of Iraqi side Al-Zawraa is understood to be in advanced discussions to take over the managerial reins at the Port Said club.
Al-Nahhas, known for his tactical discipline and experience across different leagues, is being viewed as a strong candidate to guide Al-Masry into its next phase.
His possible appointment signals the club’s intent to maintain continuity while injecting fresh ideas into the squad.
While an official confirmation is yet to be made, expectations are growing that Al-Masry will finalize the appointment in the coming period, setting the stage for a new managerial era at one of Egypt’s historic football institutions.
