Algerian international and Lille midfielder Nabil Bentaleb fell short in winning the “Marc-Vivien Foé” award for the best African player in Ligue 1.
Bentaleb, alongside Moroccan Achraf Hakimi of Paris Saint-Germain and Gabonese Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Olympique de Marseille, was nominated by France 24 and Radio France Internationale for the prestigious accolade.
However, the award for the best African player in the French league went to Aubameyang, as announced by Radio France Internationale on Monday, marking his second win after his initial triumph in 2013.
Aubameyang secured 252 points in the “Marc-Vivien Foé” award voting, while Hakimi received 136 points. Bentaleb, meanwhile, secured third place with 112 points.
