Ivory Coast star Yan Diomande frustrated over lack of game time at Real Madrid

Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande is reportedly growing frustrated with his limited playing time at Real Madrid just weeks after completing his high-profile move to the Spanish giants.

The 19-year-old expected to play a significantly bigger role at the beginning of the season but has so far struggled to establish himself in José Mourinho’s starting lineup.

Diomande has featured in all four of Real Madrid’s opening La Liga matches but has not started any of them, with Mourinho largely introducing the young winger from the bench.

The situation has reportedly left the Ivorian disappointed, particularly after arriving at the Santiago Bernabéu with high expectations following his big-money transfer from RB Leipzig.

Despite his frustration, however, the situation has not developed into an open confrontation between the player and Mourinho.

The Portuguese tactician reportedly believes Diomande’s opportunity will come and has urged the teenager to remain patient as he adapts to his new surroundings and competes for a place in a star-studded Madrid attack.

Competition for attacking positions at Real Madrid remains fierce, making it difficult for the youngster to immediately secure a regular starting role.

Mourinho is also understood to be taking a cautious approach to Diomande’s integration, with the manager unwilling to rush the teenager into a prominent role before he fully adapts to the demands of playing for one of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Diomande’s early statistics reflect his limited involvement. He has accumulated 83 minutes across Madrid’s first four La Liga matches without registering a goal or an assist.

The Ivorian joined Real Madrid from RB Leipzig in August for a reported €125 million fee, making him one of the most expensive young players in world football and placing significant expectations on his shoulders.

His limited minutes have therefore attracted attention, but Mourinho’s stance suggests the club remains confident in his long-term prospects.

For Diomande, the immediate challenge will be to remain patient, impress whenever opportunities come his way and force his way into Mourinho’s plans.

With the season still in its early stages, the highly rated winger will hope his patience is rewarded with more minutes and eventually a regular starting berth in the Real Madrid attack.
