Myron Boadu joins Watford after PSV title-winning season

Dutch-Ghanaian striker Myron Boadu has joined Watford from PSV on a free transfer, completing his move to the Championship club on 1 September 2026.

The 25-year-old centre-forward moves to England after one season with PSV, where he was part of the squad that won the Dutch title in 2025-26. He joins Watford as the club add an experienced senior forward to their attacking options ahead of the new Championship campaign.

Boadu began the 2026-27 season with PSV but did not make an appearance before switching clubs. His arrival gives Watford a striker who has previously played in the Netherlands, France and Germany, as well as in the Champions League environment during his career.

He moved to PSV from Monaco on 30 August 2025 for €800,000. During his time with Monaco, Boadu also spent periods on loan at VfL Bochum and FC Twente, gaining experience in both the Bundesliga and Eredivisie.

Boadu originally developed at AZ Alkmaar, joining the club’s youth system before progressing into senior football. He made his breakthrough there after coming through AZ’s academy, prior to earning a move to Monaco in August 2021 for €17m.

The Amsterdam-born forward stands 1.83m tall and is right-footed. His ability to operate as a central striker will provide Watford with another option in the final third as they compete in England’s second tier.

Boadu’s career has included a number of international connections through his Dutch and Ghanaian heritage, while his club career has taken him across several European leagues. His latest move represents a return to regular domestic competition after his title-winning spell in Eindhoven.

PSV’s decision to release him without a transfer fee allowed Watford to complete the deal without paying for the player’s registration. The transfer was concluded on the final recorded date of the move, with Boadu now registered as a Watford player.
