MVV Maastricht add dual-national winger Onesime Zimuangana from Helmond Sport

Netherlands and DR Congo winger Onesime Zimuangana has joined MVV Maastricht from Helmond Sport on a free transfer, strengthening the Keuken Kampioen Divisie club’s options on the right side of attack.

The 20-year-old has signed a contract with MVV that runs until 30 June 2028, following his move on 14 August 2026. Zimuangana is a right-footed right winger and was born in Helmond, where he began his senior career with local club Helmond Sport.

Zimuangana made one appearance in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie before switching to Maastricht, playing 20 minutes. He had not scored in that appearance and started none of the club’s matches recorded during the opening stage of the 2026-27 campaign.

His route into senior football also included a spell with Helmond Sport’s Under-21 side. He moved from Helmond O21 into the first-team setup in January 2026, having previously joined the Under-21 group from Helmond Sport in July 2025.

Before establishing himself at Helmond, Zimuangana spent time in the PSV academy system. He joined PSV Under-18 from Helmond Sport in July 2024 after progressing through PSV’s Under-17 and youth teams. His earlier development also included a spell with Helmond’s youth setup after leaving MULO Youth in 2018.

Standing at 1.76m, Zimuangana arrives at MVV with a recorded market value of €125,000. His move keeps him in the Netherlands’ second tier, with both Helmond Sport and MVV competing in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie.

The transfer represents a return to senior-level football for the young winger after his progression through youth and reserve teams in the region. At MVV, his recruitment adds a player whose listed role is specifically on the right wing, while his Dutch and Congolese nationality gives him a dual international background.

Zimuangana has now left Helmond Sport without a transfer fee and begins his MVV Maastricht contract through the end of June 2028.
