Mustapha Yatabaré Set to Join Qatari Side Al-Arabi from Guingamp
Malian striker Mustapha Yatabaré is poised to leave French club En Avant Guingamp for Qatari outfit Al-Arabi, with the transfer expected to be completed imminently.
Yatabaré has been absent from Guingamp training sessions this week as he travels abroad to negotiate terms. Guingamp coach Jocelyn Gourvennec confirmed the striker’s absence, stating, “Mustapha left on Thursday. He is in advanced discussions with a club. We will soon know whether this will work out or not.”
According to French sports daily L’Équipe, the two clubs have agreed on a transfer fee of €2.5 million, with Yatabaré expected to sign a three-year deal with Al-Arabi this weekend. Only minor details remain before the move is officially confirmed.
The 28-year-old forward was hoping to participate in the upcoming Trophée des Champions match against Paris Saint-Germain in Beijing on August 2, but Al-Arabi has expressed concerns about the risk of injury to their prospective signing, casting doubt on his participation.
Yatabaré has been in fine form, scoring 20 goals in all competitions last season for Guingamp, cementing his status as one of the club’s key attacking players.
This move marks a significant step for the Malian international as he enters the prime years of his career, shifting from Ligue 1 to the rapidly growing football scene in the Gulf region.
