Former Zamalek forward Ahmed Hossam Mido has urged the team to put their recent defeat to Enppi SC behind them.

Zamalek fell 1-0 to Enppi in the latest round of the Egyptian Premier League. The victory secured Enppi a spot in the league’s champions group after finishing seventh in the standings, with the team now awaiting the draw for upcoming group fixtures.

Mido highlighted that Enppi’s goal came from a penalty awarded at a crucial moment and noted that luck did not favor Zamalek, pointing to Hossam Abdel-Maguid’s missed penalty in the final minutes.

Speaking on his X account, Mido said: “Even the biggest teams have days when luck isn’t on their side. Enppi got a penalty at a tough moment, and El Mahdi tried to stop it. When a penalty comes your way, it’s your chance to make up for it and secure at least a point.”

He added: “Even the best penalty taker in Egypt can miss. We need to close this chapter and focus on the next six matches, treating each one like a cup final. Calmness is key, and we must remember that football will always present challenges.”

Mido concluded: “Learning to handle defeat is part of the game. Losses may happen again, and a league champion must have patience and the ability to navigate difficult moments.”

Zamalek remains top of the Egyptian Premier League on goal difference with 43 points, level with Pyramids in second, and three points clear of third-placed Al Ahly.
