Moussa Diarra becomes a defensive option for Brest after Le Havre move stalls

Brest are considering a move for Mali international Moussa Diarra as they look to strengthen their defence, with the 25-year-old potentially set for a return to Ligue 1.

Diarra has emerged on a shortlist of possible recruits drawn up by Brest, according to Foot Mercato. The French club are assessing the possibility of bringing in the defender, who is under contract with Deportivo Alaves and has just completed a loan spell with Anderlecht.

The interest from Brest comes after an earlier attempt by Le Havre AC to sign Diarra failed to result in a transfer. Le Havre AC were the first club to show an interest in the Mali international, but no agreement was reached and the move did not go through.

Despite that setback, a return to France’s top flight remains possible for the former Toulouse player. Brest’s interest means the Ligue 1 route is still open, with the defender now included among the players being considered to reinforce the club’s defensive options.

Diarra’s current situation is tied to Deportivo Alaves, where he remains under contract. His latest temporary spell took him to Anderlecht, and he has now returned from that loan after completing the agreement with the Belgian club.

For Brest, the Mali international represents one of the names being studied as they review potential additions to their back line. The club have not completed a deal, but Diarra’s place on their shortlist indicates that he is being seriously considered as a possible signing.
