Mostafa Mohamed made headlines once again on Friday, not just for finding the net but for the way he celebrated.
The Egyptian forward hit his fifth goal of the season in the 54th minute during Nantes’ French League clash against Stade Rennes. But it was his post-goal gesture, recreating Zamalek’s famous bow-and-arrow celebration, that got fans talking.
Nantes may have lost 2-1, but Mohamed’s tribute quickly became the center of attention, especially as rumors swirl about a possible return to Egypt with Al Ahly reportedly showing interest.
This goal marked his fifth in Ligue 1 and the 25th overall since joining Nantes, where he’s made 108 appearances. His celebration appeared to be a heartfelt nod to Zamalek, the club where he rose to prominence before heading to Europe.
The 27-year-old initially joined Nantes on loan from Galatasaray in July 2022. A year later, impressed by his performance, the French club secured him on a four-year deal.
So far this season, Mohamed has featured in 26 Ligue 1 games, scoring five goals for the Canaries.
