Mostafa Mohamed, the Nantes forward and Egyptian national team star issued a heartfelt apology following his heated reaction to being substituted during Egypt’s narrow victory over Sierra Leone on Tuesday night.
The match, part of the sixth round of African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, saw Egypt clinch a 1-0 win thanks to Ahmed Mostafa “Zizo” striking in the 45+2 minute. The tension flared when coach Hossam Hassan pulled Mohamed off the pitch in the 57th minute, replacing him with Hamdi Fathy.
Visibly frustrated, the striker stormed off, muttering curses and wearing his disbelief plainly as he slumped onto the bench. Later, he took to Twitter to clear the air, writing, “To clarify, I did not mean to offend or insult anyone from the national team’s technical staff or dear fans, and I apologize for this unintended stance.”
However, whispers from within the Egyptian camp suggest trouble brewing insiders told Kooora that Hossam Hassan might drop Mohamed from the Pharaohs’ lineup for their June gathering, hinting at a rift yet to be mended.
