Moroka Swallows FC has officially severed ties with coach Steve Komphela, bringing an end to their collaboration. The South African club revealed this decision through an official statement released on the evening of Monday, February 19, 2024, citing mutual agreement as the basis for the separation.

The statement from Moroka Swallows FC reads, “Moroka Swallows FC and Coach Steve have decided to mutually part ways.

This decision comes after several discussions between both parties, who ultimately agreed that it would be in the best interests of the club and coach Steve to part ways at this stage.”

Steve Komphela assumed the role of head coach for Moroka Swallows FC in July 2023, making his tenure with the club relatively short-lived, spanning only a few months.

While the official announcement did not delve into the specific reasons for the departure, indications point toward the team’s performance in the ongoing South African championship as a contributing factor.

Currently positioned at the 13th spot in the league standings with 19 points, Moroka Swallows FC has encountered challenges this season, securing 5 victories, 4 draws, and facing 8 defeats in 17 matches.

The decision to part ways with Komphela signals the club’s commitment to charting a new course and seeking a fresh direction for the remainder of the season.

As Moroka Swallows FC begins the search for a new leader, the departure of Steve Komphela leaves fans and football enthusiasts intrigued about the future trajectory of the club under new coaching guidance.
