Rangers striker, Hamza Ekman has described the national team of the Atlas Lions of Morocco as the best in Africa.
Ekman has been handed a maiden call-up to Morocco’s squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Niger and Tanzania.
Speaking to the Moroccan FA media, the promising striker praised Morocco coach Walid Regragui for the trust he has placed in him alongside some of Africa’s best players.
“This team is the best in Africa and among the best in the world. When you join it and play with it, that’s the most a player can hope for, especially if you’re just starting out,” he said.
“I’m here to learn and contribute to what the coach expects from me. Everyone has embraced me and the appreciation I’ve received reflects the wonderful atmosphere within the Atlas Lions.
“My dream has come true, as has the dream of my family and friends who accompanied this dream. They shared their congratulations with me and recalled my beginnings in football. I look forward to my first appearance with the Atlas Lions and will give everything I have to help the team,” he added.
