MAS Fes were crowned Botola Pro champions after defeating Olympique Dcheira 2-0 on the final day of the Moroccan league season to secure their first title in 41 years.

The victory at Fez Stadium confirmed the club’s return to the summit of Moroccan football for the first time since the 1984-85 campaign, ending one of the longest waits for a league crown in the country’s modern game.

Knowing victory would guarantee the title regardless of results elsewhere, MAS rose to the occasion in front of their home supporters to finish the season on 59 points from 30 matches.

The triumph saw them finish ahead of close challengers RS Berkane, Raja Casablanca and FAR Rabat in one of the tightest title races in recent Botola Pro history.

Second-half goals seal historic success

After a nervous opening period, MAS eventually broke the deadlock seven minutes into the second half when Tahiri found the breakthrough to lift the atmosphere inside the stadium.

The home side were already enjoying a numerical advantage after Olympique Dcheira defender Boughaz was sent off in the 41st minute, leaving the visitors with 10 men before the break.

MAS continued to dominate possession and territory after halftime and doubled their lead in the 72nd minute through Chbani, whose goal effectively secured the championship.

The hosts controlled much of the contest and ended the match with 66% possession as they comfortably saw out victory in front of jubilant fans.

Long wait finally comes to an end

For decades, MAS Fes had been searching for another league title after last lifting the trophy in 1985.

The club entered the final weeks of the campaign in a strong position after rivals dropped crucial points, leaving MAS within touching distance of a historic achievement.

Their consistency throughout the season ultimately proved decisive.

MAS completed the campaign with 16 victories, 11 draws and only three defeats, while scoring 40 goals and conceding just 17 to finish with a goal difference of +23.

MAS hold off rivals in dramatic title race

RS Berkane pushed MAS all the way before finishing second on 57 points, with Raja Casablanca ending the season third on 56 points and FAR Rabat fourth on 55.

Despite the pressure of a closely fought race, MAS remained composed during the decisive final weeks and delivered when it mattered most.

The title represents a major moment not only for the club but also for the city of Fes, which celebrates its biggest football success in decades.

After more than four decades of waiting, MAS Fes are champions of Morocco once again.
