Wydad Casablanca will host Spanish side Sevilla FC in a prestigious friendly at the Mohammed V Stadium as part of their preparations for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.
The match, scheduled for May, will be organised by an internationally recognised sports agency.
The fixture was confirmed following a visit by two Sevilla officials, who attended Wydad’s recent Botola Pro encounter against Rapide Oued Zem last Sunday during the league’s 30th round.
The presence of the Spanish delegation underlines the growing international attention on the Moroccan giants as they gear up for one of the most competitive stages in global club football.
As part of their broader training programme, Wydad are also expected to travel to Spain for a summer camp in June, where they plan to face a Portuguese club in a second warm-up match.
The club is reportedly finalising plans for a third friendly, which is likely to take place in the United States, with Auckland City or a top-tier Mexican side among the possible opponents.
These friendlies are designed to prepare Wydad for a formidable group stage at the Club World Cup, where they will face three footballing powerhouses.
The Casablanca side is scheduled to take on Manchester City on 18 June, followed by Juventus on the 22nd, and Al Ain of the UAE on the 26th.
With only the top two teams in each group advancing to the knockout stages, Wydad will need to be at their peak to challenge for a spot in the last 16.
Wydad earned their place at the 2025 Club World Cup after lifting the CAF Champions League title in 2022, cementing their status as one of Africa’s most successful and respected clubs.
Their upcoming friendlies reflect both ambition and a strategic approach to international competition, as they seek to measure themselves against elite sides from Europe, Oceania, and the Americas.
The Moroccan champions will be looking to use these matches to fine-tune their squad, test tactical systems, and gain crucial experience against world-class opposition.
With intense fixtures on the horizon, Wydad’s preparation campaign promises to deliver excitement for fans and valuable lessons for the team.
