Morocco begin their bid for a fourth successive Futsal Africa Cup of Nations title against Algeria in Rabat on Monday, 12 October.

The hosts, who have won the past three editions in 2016, 2020 and 2024, face an Algeria side playing in the finals for the first time in their history.

The Group A derby will be played at 20:00 Morocco time (GMT), 21:00 in Algeria and 22:00 in France, at the Salle omnisports du complexe Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat.

The match is the second fixture of the opening day, following Libya against Zambia at 17:00. The four teams make up Group A, with the top two progressing to the semi-finals. Morocco and Algeria were drawn together in August.

Algeria will continue their campaign against Libya on Wednesday at 17:00 before facing Zambia on Friday at 20:00. Morocco play Zambia on Wednesday and complete the group stage against Libya on Friday.

The match will be shown in Morocco on Arryadia TNT. It will also be streamed free on CAF TV, the official YouTube channel of the Confederation of African Football.

The CAF has confirmed that all 16 matches in the eighth edition of the competition will be broadcast on its channel, giving supporters in Algeria and viewers in France the opportunity to watch the derby.

Morocco enter the tournament as clear favourites. Hicham Dguig’s side have established themselves among the leading teams in world futsal and will be aiming to secure a fourth consecutive continental crown on home soil.

They have, however, made a late change to their squad. Anas Dahani withdrew for medical reasons and was replaced by Soufiane Chaaraoui.

Algeria’s place in the finals represents a landmark moment for the national team. The Fennecs secured their first qualification for the Futsal Africa Cup of Nations in February, defeating Guinea 4-0 in Conakry before completing a 7-1 victory in Oran.

Noureddine Benamrouche’s team therefore arrive without the same pressure as their hosts. Although Morocco are the strongest side on paper, an opening defeat would not end Algeria’s qualification hopes. Their matches against Libya and Zambia are likely to carry greater significance in the battle for the semi-finals.
