The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that Morocco will once again host the CAF Women’s Champions League Finals in 2024. The competition, set to run from 9 to 23 November 2024, will bring together the best women’s football clubs from across Africa for the continent’s premier club tournament.

This marks the second time Morocco has been chosen to host the event, following its successful staging of the 2022 edition.

As a growing hub for African football, Morocco has continued to solidify its reputation as a key player in the development of women’s football across the continent.

Eight teams will vie for the prestigious title, battling for the top prize of $400,000.

The runners-up will walk away with $250,000.

The tournament provides a platform for clubs from all regions of Africa to showcase their talent and compete at the highest level of women’s football.

Among the teams confirmed for the tournament is CBE FC from Ethiopia, representing the CECAFA Zone (Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations).

CBE FC secured their spot after defeating Malawi’s Police Bullets FC in the CECAFA Qualifier finals in August 2024.

The Ethiopian side will face stiff competition from some of the top women’s football clubs in Africa, including the reigning champions, Mamelodi Sundowns.

The South African team has dominated the tournament since its inception, winning two of the last three editions and solidifying their status as one of the continent’s elite clubs.

CAF’s decision to return to Morocco reflects the country’s growing influence in both men’s and women’s football on the continent.

The North African nation has invested heavily in football infrastructure and development programs, which has allowed it to host numerous high-profile tournaments in recent years.

Morocco’s national women’s football team has also been on the rise, with impressive performances in international competitions.

Hosting the CAF Women’s Champions League Finals will further enhance the country’s commitment to advancing women’s football and providing opportunities for players to compete on the international stage.

As the tournament approaches, the participating clubs are gearing up for the challenge.

In addition to CBE FC and Mamelodi Sundowns, other teams from across Africa will be vying for the top honors.

The CAF Women’s Champions League offers not only the opportunity for clubs to achieve continental glory but also a chance to advance women’s football in their respective countries.

The tournament has rapidly become a key fixture in the African football calendar, elevating the profile of women’s club football and inspiring the next generation of female footballers across the continent.

With just weeks to go until the finals in November 2024, excitement is building as fans and players alike anticipate another thrilling chapter in African women’s football.
