A French newspaper has nominated Moroccan Achraf Hakimi as a leading contender to win the Ballon d’Or for the world’s best player in 2025.

Le Parisien reported that Hakimi has scored 14 goals and provided 10 assists in 51 matches for Paris Saint-Germain across all competitions this season.

“The Moroccan player has become a fundamental and important pillar in the plans of Spanish coach Luis Enrique,” the reports said.

“Hakimi also remains an important pillar in terms of technical and mental leadership, and has worn the Paris captain’s armband more than once.

“All these factors make him an unlikely candidate to win the Ballon d’Or.”

Hakimi commented on this by saying, “I am very happy if people think I deserve the Ballon d’Or.”

Hakimi is preparing with PSG to face Inter Miami in the round of 16 of the Club World Cup, currently being held in the United States.
