Morocco prepares to train 40,000 volunteers for 2030 World Cup

WORLD Cup Trophy

Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation and Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget, has announced that Morocco will require approximately 40,000 volunteers to assist in organizing the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

The tournament will be co-hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, marking the first time Morocco will serve as a World Cup host.

Speaking during a meeting organized by the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises, Lekjaa emphasized the critical role volunteers will play in ensuring the success of the event.

He outlined plans for extensive training programs to prepare them for various tasks, including guest reception, media management, and fan services.

“We will not be able to develop our vital areas without establishing quality training,” Lekjaa stated. “The volunteers’ tasks include receiving guests at airports, providing guidance, organizing events, and managing media operations.”

To facilitate the selection and training process, the Moroccan government will partner with Mohammed VI Polytechnic University.

Chosen volunteers will receive comprehensive training tailored to their specific roles. Additionally, they will benefit from accommodation, transportation, medical care, and meal provisions during their service.

Lekjaa underlined the importance of leveraging Morocco’s strengths to deliver a world-class tournament, noting that hosting the World Cup represents a historic achievement for the country.

Morocco has unsuccessfully bid for the tournament on several occasions in the past, making this opportunity a significant milestone in its sporting history.

The collaboration with Spain and Portugal further enhances the tournament’s appeal, with the three nations set to work closely to ensure seamless coordination and an unforgettable experience for players and fans alike.

The training initiative highlights Morocco’s commitment to investing in its human capital, ensuring that volunteers are well-equipped to contribute effectively to the success of the global event.

This approach aligns with broader efforts to bolster Morocco’s international reputation as a capable and reliable host for major sporting events.

As preparations intensify, the spotlight will remain on Morocco’s plans and the steps it takes to fulfill its role as a key partner in the 2030 World Cup.
