Morocco cruised to a convincing 3-1 victory over Tunisia in a friendly played at Casablanca’s Père Jégo Stadium on Friday, as the host nation continues to fine-tune preparations for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
With just over three months to go before the tournament kicks off on home soil, Jorge Vilda’s side delivered a composed and clinical performance that showcased both tactical structure and attacking flair.
The opener came in the 39th minute after sustained Moroccan pressure.

Valencia midfielder Yasmin Mrabet found herself in the right place at the right time, nodding into an empty net after Ibtisam Jraidi redirected the ball past Tunisia’s goalkeeper to set up the chance.
Tunisia managed to pull level briefly, but the equaliser only served to reignite Morocco’s attacking intent.
Jraidi, at the heart of almost every dangerous move, restored the lead by converting a well-worked opportunity and asserting herself as the game’s most influential figure.

The Al-Ahli FC forward was instrumental again in Morocco’s third goal, leading a sweeping team move that encapsulated the dominance of the Atlas Lionesses. After receiving a clever headed pass from captain Ghizlane Chebbak, Jraidi picked out Fatima Tagnaout with a perfectly weighted ball into the box.
Tagnaout then squared to Imene El Ghazouani, who finished the sequence with a precise pivot and shot into the bottom corner to make it 3-1.

“It was a very positive performance,” said head coach Jorge Vilda, who has now seen his team go three matches unbeaten, following February’s 1-0 win over Ghana and 1-1 draw with Haiti.
The result will undoubtedly serve as a morale booster as Morocco builds towards a tournament in which they aim to challenge for continental glory.
Tunisia, for their part, struggled to match the energy and precision of their opponents.

Despite showing glimpses of attacking intent, they were often second best in midfield and failed to contain the fluid link-up play orchestrated by Morocco’s experienced core.
Morocco will return to action on Tuesday when they face Cameroon in another friendly fixture at the same venue.
With form improving and key players like Jraidi hitting their stride, the signs look increasingly encouraging for the hosts as WAFCON 2025 draws closer.
