Morocco’s national team doctor, Bodo Christophe, has provided an update on the health of the players ahead of their journey to Ivory Coast for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Christophe stated, “The players come from an intense mid-season since they faced a demanding rhythm with their clubs.
However, generally speaking, there are two or three players who arrived with injuries, while the rest of the squad is in good condition and undergoing intense training.”
He continued, “Currently at the Mohammed VI Complex, Hakim Ziyech came with a minor injury and is currently undergoing rehabilitation with us.
Then we have Captain Romain Saiss, who has been dealing with an ankle sprain since December 20.
We have taken all precautions.”
“Saiss arrived here early, before the start of the camp, to undergo treatment.
He will also return to full team training starting next week,” added the national team doctor.
Christophe went on to explain the third case, involving Nacer Mazraoui, who required a visit to Bayern Munich.
He stated, “We reached an agreement with Bayern, and he will continue his recovery program there in the first days of January.
He has an injury to the calf muscle.”
“Thanks to the efforts of the federation, we reached an agreement with Bayern, and Mazraoui is expected to join us around the 10th of this month.
At that point, we will manage his treatment program,” he added.
In conclusion, Christophe remarked, “He will certainly miss the first or second match, but he will be ready for the third encounter and the remainder of the competition.
His injury was severe, but we have the resources to prepare him for a return to the squad.”
This comprehensive update from the team doctor emphasizes the meticulous care and planning undertaken to ensure the players’ fitness and readiness for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations competition.
