Amine Sbaï joins Morocco training camp ahead of World Cup preparations

Morocco head coach Mohamed Ouahbi has named Angers winger Amine Sbaï in the national team setup as part of preparations for the 2026 World Cup, with the player joining an expanded training group ahead of upcoming international commitments.

The 25-year-old, who was born in Sidi Kacem, has impressed during his current campaign with Angers SCO in Ligue 1.

His performances on the left flank have been rewarded with a first call-up to the senior Morocco squad.

Sbaï is part of a broader group of 28 players assembled by the coaching staff, as the national team management continues to evaluate available options before finalising the squad for future competitions.

The player has already joined his teammates at the Mohammed VI Football Complex, where the camp is being held.

The facility, located near Salé, is serving as the base for the current training phase.

The camp officially began on Friday and is scheduled to run for four days, concluding on 26 May 2026.

All sessions are taking place behind closed doors as the technical staff assess player fitness, form and tactical suitability.

This stage of preparation is understood to be a final evaluation period before the announcement of Morocco’s definitive squad for the 2026 World Cup, with competition for places expected to remain intense.

For Sbaï, the call-up represents a significant step in his international career, as he seeks to establish himself within a national team setup that continues to evolve under Ouahbi’s leadership.

The coming days in Maâmora will therefore be crucial, not only for the newcomer but also for several players hoping to secure a place in Morocco’s long-term plans ahead of a major global tournament.
