Morocco judicial units handle around 60 AFCON 2025 fines in stadiums
Judicial offices set up inside the stadiums hosting the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco have dealt with nearly 60 cases linked to recorded infractions, all ruled on immediately on site, said Justice Minister Abdellatif Ouahbi in Rabat.
Speaking at the opening of an international scientific symposium on security at major sporting events, he explained that these offenses were processed directly within the arenas where CAN matches are being played.
Ouahbi praised this system as an efficient experience and highlighted the strong discipline shown by supporters. In his view, football, through its moral mission, helps to reinforce values of mutual respect and responsible behaviour in the stands. He also stressed that the popular enthusiasm generated by football remains unmatched, even when compared with other major sporting events.
The minister underlined that this passion contributes to promoting Morocco’s image abroad and supports the development of national institutions.
The three-day symposium is organized by the Ministry of Justice with Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, the DGSN, the Royal Gendarmerie and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, with support from UN counterterrorism bodies and several international organizations including FIFA, Interpol, Europol and the African Union Commission.
