Morocco is preparing to host a FIFA delegation as the country moves into a critical stage of its preparations for the 2030 World Cup.

Officials from world football’s governing body, FIFA, are expected to travel to the North African nation as part of an inspection tour of countries set to host the tournament.

The visit follows scheduled stops in Spain and Portugal, where representatives will also review preparations ahead of the competition.

The inspection forms part of the official monitoring process for the tournament that Morocco will co-host with its European partners.

During their time in the country, the FIFA delegation will assess the progress of sports infrastructure as well as the broader organisational arrangements linked to hosting the global event.

According to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, the visit is designed to evaluate the readiness of facilities and ensure that the country’s plans meet the requirements set by the governing body.

Several major stadium projects are central to Morocco’s proposal to stage matches during the tournament.

Among the venues highlighted for the inspection are the Grand Hassan II Stadium, the Grand Stadium of Tangier, the Moulay-Abdallah Sports Complex, the Grand Stadium of Marrakech, the Grand Stadium of Agadir and the Grand Stadium of Fez.

The FIFA officials will review construction work already under way and examine whether the proposed venues meet the standards required to host matches at the World Cup.

Their evaluation will also consider logistical preparations and the wider organisational framework put in place to stage the event.

While Morocco has identified several potential host venues, the final decision regarding which cities and stadiums will stage matches remains the responsibility of FIFA.

The inspection mission therefore represents a key step in the process leading up to the tournament, as the governing body continues to assess readiness across the three host nations.

For Morocco, the visit signals another milestone in its preparations as the country works to demonstrate that its stadium projects and organisational plans are capable of supporting one of the world’s biggest sporting events.
