Morocco FA denies MUTUALLY parting ways with Walid Regragui
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has dismissed claims that it has parted ways with Atlas Lions head coach Walid Regragui.
In a brief statement, the FRMF said: “The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) denies the circulating reports about its separation from coach Walid Regragui.”
This clarification comes weeks after the federation issued a similar rebuttal, countering media reports suggesting Regragui had resigned from his post.
Speculation about the coach’s future surged following Morocco’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final loss to Senegal on January 18.
The match was marred by interruptions, including the Senegalese team leaving the field for nearly 15 minutes, fans attempting to storm the pitch, and acts of vandalism.
These incidents overshadowed Morocco’s historic run in the tournament and reignited debate over Regragui’s squad choices and tactical approach.
Throughout the competition, the coach faced criticism over both team selection and game strategy.
