Morocco finalise World Cup 2026 preparation matches

Morocco have finalised their pre-World Cup schedule with the confirmation of a second friendly match, as the Atlas Lions prepare to face El Salvador just days before taking on Norway.

The fixture forms part of Morocco’s build-up to the 2026 World Cup, which is set to be held across the United States, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.

The national team’s preparation programme has now been approved, with head coach Mohamed Ouahbi overseeing the final stages of planning.

Morocco are scheduled to face El Salvador national football team on June 3 in the United States. The match will take place at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland, marking the first-ever meeting between the two nations.

Confirmation of the fixture came from Salvadoran Football Federation president Yamil Bukele, who announced the match on social media.

The encounter offers Morocco an additional opportunity to fine-tune preparations against international opposition ahead of the tournament.

Four days later, the Atlas Lions will take on Norway national football team, featuring striker Erling Haaland, on June 7 at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison. That match is expected to provide a more demanding test before Morocco enter the competition.

These fixtures are part of a broader preparation strategy as Morocco look to arrive at the World Cup in optimal condition.

The team will then begin their campaign in Group C, where they are scheduled to face Brazil, Scotland and Haiti during the first round.

The opening group match will see Morocco take on Brazil in New York on the night of June 13-14, followed by a meeting with Scotland in Boston on June 19-20. Their final group game will be against Haiti in Atlanta on June 24-25.

With two friendlies confirmed on American soil, Morocco’s preparations are entering their final phase.

The matches against El Salvador and Norway are expected to play a key role in shaping the team ahead of one of the most significant tournaments in international football.
