Oussama Assaidi is straightforward in his opinion. As Morocco searches for a coach for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, which it is hosting, the former Heerenveen player doesn’t mince words. He firmly believes that the ideal coach for the national team should be a foreigner, not Moroccan.
“We need to bring in a top-notch coach, someone who isn’t Moroccan but rather a foreigner,” Assaidi expressed to the BBC.
In his view, while Morocco possesses talented individual players, it lacks cohesion as a team. To remedy this, Assaidi suggests that each player must prioritize the collective effort over personal achievements.
Several renowned coaches, including Hervé Renard, Giovanni Trapattoni, and Marcelo Bielsa, have been rumored to be potential candidates to lead the Moroccan national football team.
