The Ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, and Sports announced that hosting the World School Golf Championship in Morocco for the years 2025, 2026, and 2028 reflects the kingdom’s position under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI as one of the leading countries in the field of sports.
A statement issued by the ministry, coinciding with the signing ceremony between the Minister of National Education, Vocational Training, and Sports, Shakib Benmoussa, and the International School Sport Federation, the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation, and the Royal Moroccan School Sports Federation at the Royal Golf Dar Es-Salam in Rabat, emphasized that this move also translates “the royal interest and high patronage for sports in general in Morocco, and for school sports in particular, which is manifested through comprehensive mobilization and promising results being achieved.”
The same source affirmed that signing this memorandum aligns with the ministry’s strategy to enhance school sports, especially encouraging the practice of certain sports, including golf.
The 2022-2026 Roadmap places significant importance on school sports and physical activities within educational institutions, aiming to expand and diversify sports offerings for students through close cooperation with relevant royal sports universities.
It was noted that signing this memorandum is also part of the efforts to promote the practice of golf among students within school sports, considering it as a means to instill positive values, hone interpersonal skills, and serve as a breeding ground for discovering and training future champions.
The ministry, in collaboration with the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation and the Royal Moroccan School Sports Federation, is working to encourage students to practice golf.
This includes organizing visits to various institutions across the kingdom and holding informational sessions about the sport to encourage participation.
Additionally, pathways for studying and practicing golf have been opened in some institutions in Rabat and Agadir, focusing on golf specialization.
The number of students enrolled in these pathways currently stands at 32.
It is worth mentioning that the National School Golf Championship will be held in Rabat from May 17th to 19th, aiming to enhance the practice of golf within educational institutions and broaden the base of practitioners.
