Morocco advances to U17 Africa Cup of Nations semi-Finals with 3-1 win over South Africa

Maroc U17

Morocco’s U17 team extended their unbeaten run in the 2025 Africa U17 Cup of Nations with a commanding 3-1 victory over South Africa in the quarter-finals at the El Abdi Stadium in Mohammedia.

The win secured Morocco’s place in the semifinals, as they continue their pursuit of a historic first continental title in this category.

The match began with intense tempo, as both teams looked to impose their style.

Morocco swiftly took control, with Ismail El Aoud finding the back of the net in the 13th minute to give his side a crucial early lead.

However, South Africa responded strongly, and in the 54th minute, Neo Bohloko scored a stunning equalizer to make it 1-1, bringing the match to life once more.

Despite the setback, Morocco regained their composure quickly.

Ziyad Baha was the standout player, scoring twice in quick succession.

The first came in the 61st minute, followed by another two minutes later in the 63rd. His brace put Morocco firmly in the driver’s seat with a 3-1 lead, and South Africa struggled to respond to the pressure.

Morocco’s defense held strong, ensuring that the scoreline remained intact as the match drew to a close.

This result extends Morocco’s perfect record in the competition and keeps their hopes alive for a maiden U17 Africa Cup of Nations title.

With the victory, Morocco advances to the semifinals, where they will look to build on their impressive form and continue their quest for the trophy.

As one of the standout teams in the tournament, the Atlas Lions will be aiming to maintain their momentum and secure a place in the final.
