Moroccan youngster Youssef Lakhadim training with Real Madrid first team amid injury troubles
Moroccan left-back Youssef Lakhadim has been drafted into Real Madrid’s first team as the club deals with a growing injury list.
The 20-year-old, who plays for Real Madrid Castilla, was called up to train with the senior squad this week following injuries to key defenders.
Ferland Mendy and David Alaba have both been ruled out for the remainder of the season with muscle issues, while midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is sidelined due to a torn adductor tendon.
Lakhadim filled in at left-back during Wednesday’s training session as Los Blancos prepare for their La Liga clash against Celta Vigo on Sunday.
This isn’t his first time with the senior team this season, and with the squad stretched thin, he could be in contention for minutes in the coming games.
So far this season, Lakhadim has made 33 appearances for Castilla, scoring once and providing four assists in the Spanish third division. He remains under contract with Real Madrid until 2028.
On the international stage, Lakhadim has trained with Morocco’s senior national team and has earned five caps with the U20 side.
