Morocco’s U-17 women’s team is ready to make history as hosts of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, set for 17 October to 7 November.
Drawn into what many are calling the “Group of Fire,” the young Atlas Lionesses will face Brazil, Italy, and Costa Rica in Group A.
The opening game will be a bold test, with Morocco taking on South American champions Brazil. It’s a moment that reflects how far women’s football has come in the country and how much further it wants to go.
This edition of the tournament is the first to take place on African soil and the first to welcome 24 teams, up from 16, marking a major leap forward for the competition.
The draw, held at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat, was led by two icons of Moroccan women’s football, Doha Al Madani and Fatiha Assiri. FIFA officials Jaime Yarza and Sarai Berman were also present to oversee the event.
With the world watching, Morocco’s young stars are ready to shine on home turf.
