The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Moroccan referee Javed Jalal to officiate the crucial 2026 World Cup qualifying match between Rwanda and Nigeria. The Group C encounter is set to take place at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.
Match Officials Confirmed
Jalal will serve as the central referee for the fixture, with fellow Moroccans Mostapha Akarkad and Hamza Nassiri assigned as assistant referees.
The officiating team will oversee what promises to be a high-stakes contest as both sides seek to improve their standing in the qualification race.
Group C Standings Ahead of the Clash
Rwanda currently leads Group C with seven points, edging ahead of South Africa and Benin, who also have seven points but trail on goal difference.
Meanwhile, Nigeria finds itself struggling in fifth place, having managed just three points from their opening four matches.
Nigeria in Need of a Turnaround
The Super Eagles, expected to be strong contenders in the qualifiers, have underperformed so far and will be desperate to revive their campaign. Rwanda, on the other hand, will look to maintain their position at the top of the group as they push for a historic World Cup qualification.
With the stakes high, all eyes will be on the officiating team as Rwanda and Nigeria battle for crucial points in their quest for a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
