The Moroccan national football team, famously known as the Lions of Atlas, touched down in San Pedro, Ivory Coast, on Sunday, marking their arrival for the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place from January 13 to February 11.
The aircraft carrying the Atlas Lions’ delegation departed from Rabat-Salé Airport to Abidjan before making the final journey to San Pedro.
Upon their arrival at Abidjan Airport, the Lions of Atlas were warmly welcomed by the Moroccan Ambassador to Ivory Coast, Abdelmalek Kettani, Ivory Coast’s Minister of Transport, Amadou Koné, and members of the Moroccan embassy.
At San Pedro Airport, the Moroccan community residing in Ivory Coast gathered to extend a warm welcome to the Moroccan national team, expressing their support and enthusiasm for the team to proudly wave the national flag during this continental football event.
In preparation for the upcoming tournament, the national squad underwent several training sessions at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maamoura.
Next in their agenda, the Moroccan team is set to play a friendly match against Sierra Leone on Thursday at the Laurent Pokou Stadium in Ivory Coast.
Placed in Group F, the Moroccan national team will contend with the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, and Tanzania during the continental competition.
