Moroccan midfielder Sofyan begins light training at Real Betis ahead of full return from injury

Sofyan Amrabat has taken an important step in his recovery by partially rejoining group training at Real Betis, continuing his rehabilitation following surgery on his right ankle.

The “Atlas Lions” midfielder participated on Tuesday in part of the training session overseen by Chilean coach Manuel Pellegrini at the club’s Andalusian training facility, marking a positive milestone in his gradual return to competitive football.

Amrabat, on loan from Fenerbahce SK, recently returned to Seville after several weeks of recovery and has been following a carefully managed program designed to restore his fitness ahead of resuming full team duties.

The injury occurred in late November after an accidental collision with teammate Isco during a Europa League match against FC Utrecht, ultimately requiring surgery at the end of January.

While Amrabat’s partial return to group training is a welcome sign for Betis’ technical staff, his inclusion in the matchday squad for official fixtures is expected to come gradually as his fitness improves.

The club is currently preparing for a trip to Athens to face Panathinaikos FC in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16 next Thursday, with hopes that Amrabat will progressively reintegrate into the team’s lineup after an extended period on the sidelines.
