Hull City have confirmed the signing of Moroccan midfielder Reda Laalaoui from Fath Union Sport in Rabat, securing the 20-year-old on a four-year contract with an optional additional year.
The deal, finalised on Thursday 12 June 2025, was completed for an undisclosed fee.
Laalaoui becomes the latest talent to make the leap from Morocco’s domestic league, Botola Pro, to European football, marking a significant step in his young career.
Known for his athleticism and versatility, the midfielder has been a standout performer for FUS Rabat, earning recognition both domestically and on the international stage.
A native of Rabat, Laalaoui is a product of FUS’s youth system. He made his professional debut for the club in April 2023 and rapidly developed into a key player in midfield.
In the 2024–25 season, he featured in 23 league matches, scoring four goals and registering three assists — an impressive return for a player deployed primarily in a box-to-box role.
His ability to contribute both defensively and in attack has made him one of the most promising talents in Moroccan football.
Standing out for his stamina, physical presence, and technical skill, Laalaoui’s profile has drawn interest beyond Morocco’s borders.
His move to Hull City, who currently compete in the English Championship, is seen as a significant milestone not just for the player, but also for the growing pipeline of Moroccan talent reaching European leagues.
Internationally, Laalaoui has already made a mark. A regular with Morocco’s U20 national team, he has earned 24 caps and scored six goals. His latest came during the 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations, where he netted the winning goal in a group-stage match against Kenya.
Morocco went on to finish as runners-up in the tournament, held in Egypt, narrowly missing out on the title to South Africa.
Following the official announcement, Laalaoui expressed his excitement about joining the English side. “I am really happy to be joining Hull City,” he said. “It is a historic club in England and I am looking forward to helping the team and bringing joy to the supporters.”
Describing the move as an important step for his development, the midfielder added: “It’s one of the best championships in the world, and coming here is important for my growth as a player. I always work hard for the team, I play with determination, and my goal is to win.”
He concluded by addressing the club’s supporters: “I look forward to seeing the fans at the MKM Stadium and I will do my best to make them happy.”
Hull City will hope Laalaoui’s arrival adds depth and dynamism to their midfield options as they prepare for the upcoming campaign.
The club has yet to disclose whether Laalaoui will join immediately for pre-season or feature as part of a phased integration, but expectations are already high for the Moroccan’s impact in English football.
