Moroccan midfielder Anouar Ait El Hadj eyes move away from Union Saint-Gilloise amid interest from Saudi Arabia

Anouar Ait El Hadj

Anouar Ait El Hadj has expressed his desire to leave Union Saint-Gilloise, signalling the potential end of his time in the Belgian Pro League as he looks to pursue a new chapter in his professional career abroad.

The Moroccan international, who has emerged as one of thestandout performers for Saint-Gilloise this season, is reportedly attracting concrete interest from Saudi Arabia.

Among the clubs showing the strongest intent is Al Qadisiyah, according to Yama Sharifi, a spokesperson for YOU FIRST, the agency representing the player.

While Ait El Hadj is eager to embrace a fresh challenge outside Belgium, any transfer will hinge on approval from his current club, which holds his contract until the summer of 2028. Union Saint-Gilloise is said to have set a price tag of €6 million for the midfielder’s release.

The 23-year-old, who was born in Belgium to a Moroccan father and Belgian mother, is reportedly seeking a four-year contract with a total annual salary of at least €2.8 million at his next club.

These financial terms, alongside the transfer fee, reflect the player’s rising profile and market value—currently estimated at €1.80 million by Transfermarkt.

This season, Ait El Hadj has made 37 appearances across all competitions for Saint-Gilloise, scoring five goals and providing four assists.

His performances have drawn widespread attention not only for his technical finesse and vision but also for his consistency in midfield.

Ait El Hadj has become known for his creative link-up play and intelligent positioning, offering a dynamic presence that has been key to his side’s attacking transitions.

Union Saint-Gilloise, which has enjoyed a strong campaign domestically, faces a significant decision regarding the midfielder’s future.

While the Belgian club has been keen to retain its top talent, the growing financial power of Saudi clubs, combined with the player’s desire to move, could influence negotiations in the coming weeks.

The Saudi Pro League continues to assert itself as a rising force in global football, and interest in players like Ait El Hadj reflects an ongoing strategy to bring in young and technically gifted talent, not just established stars.

For the Moroccan, a move to the Middle East could offer both financial security and a new platform to showcase his abilities.

Ait El Hadj’s potential departure would mark a significant moment in his career, transitioning from a league that nurtured his development to a new environment with its own demands and opportunities.

While nothing is confirmed yet, discussions are said to be progressing behind the scenes, and a move could materialise during the summer transfer window.

As one of the Belgian league’s most promising exports this season, Ait El Hadj’s next step will be closely monitored by fans and analysts alike, especially as he looks to strengthen his role within the Moroccan national setup.

For now, the midfielder remains under contract with Union Saint-Gilloise, but the signs increasingly point toward a high-profile transfer as interest intensifies.
