Moroccan footballer Mohamed Chibi appeals six-match ban by Egyptian FA
According to reports from the Egyptian sports news outlet Yallakora on Wednesday, Chibi has submitted an appeal which could temporarily halt the enforcement of his suspension.
This move allows Chibi to continue playing for Pyramids FC until the Appeals Committee, chaired by Counselor Mohamed Abdo Saleh, reaches a final decision.
The incident leading to the suspension has been contentious. Mohamed Chibi had previously secured a court ruling against Hussein El Shahat, resulting in a one-year suspended prison sentence for El Shahat, along with a fine of 100,000 Egyptian pounds and a five-year ban from any sports association membership.
In response to Chibi’s recourse to civil courts over a football-related issue, the EFA penalized him with a six-match ban and a fine of 100,000 Egyptian pounds, citing a breach of regulations that prohibit players from seeking civil litigation in football disputes.
