Fouzi Lekjaa, the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, is set to conduct a meeting with Walid Rekraki, the head coach of the national team, and his technical staff following the unexpected elimination from the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Sources from within the football circles revealed to “Hesport” that Lekjaa will convene this meeting with Rekraki and the coaching staff in the coming week to analyze the reasons behind the bitter exit from the tournament.
The same source explained that the meeting will serve as a review of the four matches played by the “Atlas Lions” in Ivory Coast, discussing the factors that led to their defeat against “Bafana Bafana,” where Hugo Broos, the South African coach, tactically outplayed Walid Rekraki.
The human choices made by the national coach during this tournament will also be scrutinized.
Despite being granted complete authority in selections and provided optimal living conditions, the team, unfortunately, exited the Ivorian fields from the back door, a scene that deeply saddened the sports community.
Regarding the possibility of Adel Ramez, the former coach of Wydad Casablanca, joining Walid Rekraki’s coaching staff, sources informed the newspaper that Ramez has not received any communication on this matter so far.
The national team advanced as the leaders of Group Six with seven points, securing victories against Tanzania and Zambia, a draw with Congo in the second round, but faced a resounding 2-0 defeat against South Africa in the knockout stage.
