Moroccan football fans have expressed frustration over the latest update to EA Sports’ FC 25, citing glaring inconsistencies and outdated information regarding the Atlas Lions squad.
While the addition of Real Madrid midfielder Brahim Díaz has been welcomed, supporters argue that the update fails to reflect the current state of Morocco’s national team and its 2025 schedule.
The update, which was intended to refresh national team rosters and player data, has instead drawn criticism from the Moroccan football community for what they see as a lack of attention to detail and relevance.
Chief among their concerns is the inclusion of players no longer in the national team picture and the exclusion of rising stars who have impressed on both domestic and international stages.
Brahim Díaz’s official debut in the Moroccan colours is the sole positive development highlighted by fans. The former Spain international switched allegiance to Morocco in March 2024, and his presence in the FC 25 update was received warmly. Many fans had been eagerly awaiting his appearance in the game since his decision to join the Atlas Lions.
However, that satisfaction has been overshadowed by the broader issues plaguing the update. A notable omission is the Moroccan national team’s most recent jerseys, worn in several matches throughout 2024.
Supporters were quick to compare this oversight with other nations whose kits were promptly updated in-game. For a team that has maintained a competitive presence on the global stage, the absence of current kits was seen as a glaring oversight.
Another point of contention lies in the continued inclusion of Abderrazak Hamdallah in the virtual squad. The Al-Ittihad striker has not featured in a national team call-up since September 2023 and is not considered part of head coach Walid Regragui’s future plans.
His reappearance in the latest update has confused fans and prompted accusations of laziness in the roster review process.
Adding to the dissatisfaction is the omission of several emerging Moroccan talents. Despite strong performances and growing reputations, players such as Soufiane Rahimi, Eliesse Ben Seghir, Chadi Riad, Oussama Targhalline, Ismael Saibari, Anas Zniti, and Chemsdine Talbi have been left out entirely.
Fans following these young stars expected their progress to be acknowledged in the update, especially with many now regulars in senior or top-flight football.
Moreover, the roster still includes players like Selim Amallah, Yahya Jabrane, Zakaria Aboukhlal (referred to as Salah in fan complaints), and Tarik Tissoudali — names that were central to Morocco’s World Cup 2022 squad but have since faded from regular selection in 2023 and 2024.
Their continued presence is seen as another example of the update’s disconnect from the national team’s current dynamics.
For many supporters, these cumulative errors suggest that EA Sports failed to adequately research or engage with the evolving landscape of Moroccan football. In a nation where football is deeply rooted in national pride, and following the team’s recent success on the world stage, fans expect greater accuracy and representation in one of the world’s most played football video games.
While EA Sports has yet to comment on the backlash, Moroccan fans are calling for an urgent revision to ensure that the Atlas Lions are reflected in the game with the same accuracy and respect as other leading national teams.
Until then, frustration continues to simmer across fan forums and social media, where many hope that future updates will offer a fairer and more current portrayal of their beloved team.
