Fans in Agadir and across Morocco were left disappointed following the national team’s 1-0 defeat to Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations final at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
The match, played in front of a large home crowd, ended Morocco’s quest for a first AFCON title since 1976.
Many supporters criticized the team’s overall performance, pointing to tactical decisions by coach Walid Regragui.
In particular, fans questioned the timing and nature of substitutions, arguing that the coach did not adequately consider injuries affecting several key players.
The criticism highlighted growing frustration among supporters eager for the national team to deliver on home soil.
Despite the disappointment, other fans urged a broader perspective, emphasizing that the loss does not diminish Morocco’s progress in football.
“Losing the final is not the end of the world or the end of Moroccan football’s rise,” one supporter said. “It is an opportunity to regroup and prepare properly for the World Cup finals in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.”
