Moroccan Embassy expected to intervene after AS FAR fan suffers serious injuries in Pretoria

A supporter of AS FAR suffered serious injuries during the first leg of the CAF Champions League final against Mamelodi Sundowns FC at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday evening.

The Moroccan fan, identified as “Amin,” reportedly fell from the upper level of the stadium during the match and was rushed to a hospital in Pretoria for urgent medical treatment.

The incident occurred during a difficult evening for AS FAR supporters, as the Moroccan side suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat in the first leg of the continental final.

Medical reports reveal multiple fractures

According to reports from Moroccan media, initial medical examinations confirmed that the supporter sustained several serious injuries following the fall.

Doctors reportedly diagnosed multiple fractures affecting the hand, shoulder, rib cage and arm.

The seriousness of the injuries has raised growing concern among Moroccan supporters following the chaotic scenes surrounding the match in Pretoria.

Moroccan embassy expected to assist injured supporter

Reports also indicate that the Embassy of Morocco in South Africa is expected to intervene in order to closely monitor the supporter’s condition and provide the necessary assistance.

Due to the severity of the injuries, there are concerns that the fan may eventually require medical evacuation to Morocco aboard a specially equipped ambulance aircraft if doctors approve air transport.

The situation continues to be monitored closely as supporters await further updates regarding the fan’s health condition.

No official statement yet from AS FAR

As of the time of reporting, AS FAR had not released an official statement regarding the incident or clarified how the club intends to support the injured fan.

The accident added to an already tense atmosphere surrounding the final in Pretoria, where reports of crowd disturbances, clashes and security incidents also emerged during the match.

The return leg of the CAF Champions League final will take place in Rabat on May 24, where AS FAR will attempt to overturn the one-goal deficit in front of their home supporters.
