Moroccan defender Noussair Mazraoui voices frustration after Man United’s derby defeat to Man City

Morocco international Noussair Mazraoui has voiced his frustration following Manchester United’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in Sunday’s Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium.

The full-back, speaking to MUTV after the match, admitted his disappointment with both his own display and that of the team as Ruben Amorim’s side slumped to a heavy derby loss.

Phil Foden opened the scoring in the 18th minute, heading home from Jeremy Doku’s cross, before Erling Haaland struck twice in the second half to secure a convincing win for the defending champions.

The result left United fans deflated and sparked criticism of their recent form after a run of improved performances.

“I am feeling bad,” Mazraoui told the club channel. “Disappointed in myself, in the team, and disappointed for the fans that we couldn’t bring the performance we did lately today. It was not good enough.

“If you lose and you play good, and you have the chances we created in previous games, you can take some positives. But today was just not good enough.”

The Moroccan defender also cautioned against making instant judgments in the heat of the moment.

“It is hard to say [where specifically it went wrong] because you are always full of emotion after the game, so I always try to calm down and try to analyse the game. Otherwise, I will just point fingers and often it is not something I point out now. We will analyse it as a team and improve,” he added.

United now have six days to regroup before facing Chelsea at Old Trafford on Saturday.
