Waleed Al-Rakraki, the coach of the Moroccan national team, has finalized his decision to include Ibrahim Diaz in the expanded list for the Lions’ camp in March, which will consist of 39 players.
Sources close to the Moroccan national team revealed to Koora that “the decision has been made to include Diaz, the Real Madrid star, in the expanded list, in response to his expected inclusion in the Spanish national team list.”
Ibrahim Diaz, 24, has not yet determined which national team he will represent in the future, as both the Spanish and Moroccan national teams are vying for his allegiance.
The sources added, “Adding Diaz’s name to the list is a procedural and formal matter that cannot be overlooked; clubs must be informed at least two weeks in advance about the desired players to be included in their national teams.”
However, the sources pointed out that “including Diaz’s name does not necessarily mean that he has agreed to attend and represent Morocco,” noting that “negotiations with the player and his entourage are ongoing.”
The sources concluded, “Next week will be crucial in this matter, and the parties within the Moroccan national team are keen to finalize it either by the player’s arrival or by knowing his final decision to focus on other matters related to preparing the Lions for upcoming challenges.”
It is worth mentioning that the Moroccan national team will play two friendly matches during the March camp against Angola and Mauritania in Agadir on the 22nd and 26th of the same month.
