Aymen Abdennour Set for Return as Monaco Eyes Derby Victory

After a challenging period marked by injury, Aymen Abdennour is eager to return to action for AS Monaco this weekend as the team prepares for a crucial derby against Nice. Arriving from Tunisia’s Etoile du Sahel in 2011, Abdennour quickly made a name for himself with his aggressive, dynamic defensive style. His strong performances earned him a move to AS Monaco in January, where he joined on loan with an option for a permanent transfer.

However, since his arrival, the 25-year-old has been sidelined due to a persistent injury, making only one appearance for Monaco. With the derby against Nice looming, Abdennour is now confident in his physical recovery and ready to contribute to his team’s efforts.

“I feel good physically, I’m ready, and I hope to help the defense and the whole team as best I can,” Abdennour stated in a press conference ahead of the match. Reflecting on the significance of the derby, he added, “A derby is always a difficult match. We’re playing at home, and we have to win for our fans.”

Monaco is coming off a disappointing semi-final loss to Guingamp in the Coupe de France, a result that left the team deflated. Despite the setback, Abdennour expressed his resolve, emphasizing the importance of moving forward with a strong performance against Nice. “We are all disappointed by the elimination from the Cup, but now we have to move forward by winning the derby. We are all united, with the coach and the entire technical staff.”

As Monaco looks to close out the season strong, Abdennour’s return to fitness could provide the defensive stability the team needs for the high-stakes clash against their rivals. With his leadership and determination, the Tunisian international aims to play a pivotal role in securing a crucial three points for AS Monaco.
