Mohammed Salah deserves Ballon d’Or – Dutch football legend Jaap Stam

Dutch football legend Jaap Stam is backing Egyptian international Mohamed Salah to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or award.

Salah enjoyed an amazing season with Liverpool, who emerged as champions of the recently concluded Premier league campaign.

The 32-year-old racked up 34 goals and provided 23 assists in 53 appearances across competitions for Liverpool.

The Egyptian star scooped all domestic awards following an impressive campaign with the Reds.

And Jaap Stam, who is s former Manchester United player believes Salah an edge over other players to secure the award considering his achievement with Liverpool.

“I think I will give the Ballon d’Or to Salah,” Stam told ON Sport.

He added: “Although it is difficult for me as a former Manchester United player, Salah deserves the award, even though he is a Liverpool star.”

He continued: “He had an exceptional season, and he is a very important player in the English Premier League. Few players are capable of doing what he does, and that is why I believe he deserves the award.”

Meanwhile, Lamine Yamal and Ousmane Dembele are in contention for the Ballon d;Or award following an amazing seasons with their clubs.
