Mohamed Youssef has stepped in decisively to keep rising striker Mohamed Yasser at Al Ahly, holding a key meeting on Tuesday that could shut the door on Zamalek’s hopes of landing the youngster.
Yasser, who returned from a loan stint at Czech side Teplice, believed this season marked the end of his Al Ahly deal. However, a source revealed the contract he signed before the loan wasn’t notarised by the Football Association, raising doubts about its validity.
The same source told Kooora that Youssef and Al Ahly moved swiftly after learning that Zamalek official Ahmed Hossam Mido had reached out to the player. They acted before his loan expired on May 30 and reminded him his contract still stands.
Yasser met with Youssef alongside his agent and father, where discussions began on renewing the deal. The club also plans to send him on a local loan so that new coach Jose Riveiro can track his progress closely.
Yasser has asked for a short break following his Czech campaign and is expected to confirm his next steps soon.
