Mohamed Sobhi breaks down over Ismaily relegation, calls for urgent rescue

Former Ismaily goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhi was visibly emotional during a televised interview as he reflected on the club’s relegation, describing the situation as a devastating blow to Egyptian football and supporters of the storied “Darawish.”

Struggling to hold back tears, Sobhi said Ismaily had been left to decline without adequate support, questioning how the crisis was allowed to deepen to the point of relegation. “Where was everyone when the club was collapsing?” he asked during the interview.

He argued that Ismaily should not remain outside the top flight for long, insisting that the club must return to the Premier League as quickly as possible.

He appealed for collective action from all stakeholders to help restore the team’s standing among Egypt’s football elite.

Sobhi also claimed that loyal figures connected to the club have been sidelined, despite what he described as their strong commitment to Ismaily’s welfare and their potential to help stabilise the situation.

Emphasising the club’s rich heritage, he stressed that Ismaily remains one of Egypt’s most popular sides, comparing its stature to traditional giants Al Ahly and Zamalek.

He ended his remarks with a deeply emotional pledge of loyalty, saying he would go to extreme lengths for the club’s revival, including personal financial sacrifice if necessary.
