Liverpool plans befitting farewell for Salah

For Mohamed Salah, the preference for a European stay is reportedly emerging as his priority ahead of a summer exit from Liverpool, even as a lucrative £52m package is being prepared elsewhere.

Turkish side Fenerbahce are said to be positioning themselves with a three-year contract offer worth about £17.3m per season, as they attempt to lure the Egyptian forward away from wider interest in Saudi Arabia and beyond.

The 33-year-old is expected to leave Anfield after nearly a decade marked by major silverware and individual accolades, making his next step one of the most closely watched moves in the market.

Since arriving under Jurgen Klopp in 2017, Salah has collected Premier League titles, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cups, establishing himself as one of Liverpool’s defining modern figures.

However, his influence has waned this season, with Arne Slot at times opting to leave him out of the starting line-up amid inconsistent form.

The dip in output has intensified debate over his long-term role at Anfield, particularly as his contract situation and departure confirmation in March set the stage for a decisive summer exit.

According to reports in Egypt, Fenerbahce have already opened talks with Salah’s representatives and presented a structured three-year project centred on building a title-contending squad around him.

The Istanbul club are understood to have outlined a salary package of around £17.3m per year, bringing the total value of the deal close to £52m across its duration.

The proposal is part of their wider ambition to end a league title drought stretching back to 2014, with the forward viewed as a marquee figure capable of transforming their fortunes.

Interest in Salah is not limited to Turkey, with reports in Egypt and Europe suggesting Real Madrid are monitoring developments, although their transfer policy may restrict any move for a high-cost veteran signing.

Italian clubs Roma, Juventus and Inter Milan are also said to be tracking his situation closely. Outside Europe, Inter Miami in Major League Soccer has been mentioned as a possible destination, though salary cap constraints could complicate negotiations.

Despite widespread speculation, Salah’s stated inclination appears to favour remaining within European football.
