Mohamed Salah’s move to Trabzonspor will create history, says Sayed Moawad

Former Egypt international Sayed Moawad believes Mohamed Salah’s move to Trabzonspor will make history for the Turkish club and the city it represents.

Trabzonspor have announced the details of their presentation for Salah, who is set to join the club after completing a medical and signing his contract. The Egypt forward is expected to agree a two-year deal worth 17m euros per season, in addition to other clauses and bonuses.

Salah wore a Trabzonspor shirt for the first time on the plane after arriving in Turkey at Istanbul Airport. He also addressed the club’s supporters in a message, saying: “Trabzon, are you ready? I can hear you, and I will see you for the first time.”

Trabzonspor said Salah would arrive at Trabzon Airport at 20:00 local time in both Egypt and Turkey. He will then undergo his medical examination before formally completing his move to the Turkish club.

Moawad, who played for Trabzonspor in 2008, described the transfer as a major opportunity for the club and its supporters.

“Mohamed Salah is a global brand, and he will be a major addition to Trabzonspor,” Moawad told FilGoal.com. “I see it as an excellent step, because Mohamed Salah will make history for the club and the city as well.”

The former Egypt player also questioned criticism of the deal, arguing that Salah’s record justified his decision to join the Turkish side.

“I am surprised by the criticism directed at this deal, because Salah studies his decisions carefully, especially when we are talking about a player who made history in the English league and European competitions,” he added.

Salah has established himself as one of the most recognisable names in world football, while Trabzonspor are preparing to welcome a player Moawad believes can have an influence well beyond his performances on the pitch.

“Trabzon is a small city on the sea, and its residents adore the club. The team’s stadium is also full of supporters for most matches,” Moawad said.

He believes Salah’s arrival could affect the club and the surrounding community in several ways.

“The presence of Mohamed Salah will change many things. He is a legend by every measure,” Moawad said. “My experience with Trabzonspor was short, but they have supporters who are passionate about this team.”

Moawad’s spell at Trabzonspor came in 2008, giving him first-hand experience of the club’s football culture and the intensity of support in the city. He said that background made him confident that Salah’s arrival would become an important moment in Trabzonspor’s history.

Trabzonspor’s announcement comes as Salah prepares to begin the next stage of his career in Turkey. The club have confirmed the presentation arrangements, while the completion of the transfer remains subject to the player passing his medical and signing the agreed contract.
