Mohamed Salah poised for Besiktas switch after agreeing personal terms with Turkish club

Mohamed Salah is close to joining Besiktas after reaching agreement on personal terms with the Istanbul club, according to reports in Europe, in what would be his first move after ending a glittering spell at Liverpool.

The Egypt forward, who left Anfield this summer following nine seasons, is reported to have agreed a one-year contract with Besiktas worth up to €12m in salary.

Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, who specialises in transfer news, says Salah and his representatives have settled all key personal details with the Turkish side, leaving only final formalities before the deal can be confirmed.

Short-term deal with option to extend

Schira reports that the proposed contract includes an option to extend for a further season, which would keep Salah at Besiktas until the summer of 2028 if activated.

He adds that Italian coach Vincenzo Italiano, recently appointed by Besiktas, has played a significant role in persuading Salah to accept the club’s sporting project, helping to push negotiations towards their final stages.

Besiktas officials are now said to be working on the remaining details before making an official announcement, with expectations that the transfer could be completed and confirmed in the coming days.

The move would see Salah join one of Turkey’s most historically successful clubs as they seek to rebuild and challenge domestically and in Europe under Italiano.

Liverpool chapter closed

Salah’s prospective move comes after the conclusion of a historic chapter with Liverpool, where he established himself as one of the club’s greatest modern players.

During nine seasons at Anfield, Salah won every major domestic and European trophy available to him with Liverpool, including honours in both England and on the continent. Over that period, he also amassed a host of individual awards and broke numerous club and Premier League records, cementing his status among the elite forwards of his generation.

His departure marked the end of an era for Liverpool, where he became known to supporters as the “Egyptian King” and was central to the club’s recent successes under Jurgen Klopp.

Turkish move favoured over Saudi offers

Salah has attracted sustained interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League’s Roshn Saudi League in recent transfer windows, with significant financial offers reported from several teams.

However, current indications are that a move to Turkey is now the most likely outcome. Reports suggest Salah’s preference is to continue competing in European football, a factor that has strengthened Besiktas’ position despite the lucrative terms available in Saudi Arabia.
